Emily Giffin Movie!

I am a huge fan of Emily Giffin!  I started with Something Borrowed, then Something Blue, Baby Proof and would like to read Love the One You’re with and Heart of the Matter soon.

One of my favourite elements of her novels are the characters.  They are always very real and I love how all the storylines link together.  Something Blue picks up from Something Borrowed, etc.,  It’s easy to root for certain characters and the books are a nice, light read.

I am really looking forward to watching Something Borrowed when it hits theaters May 6th.  I really hope it lives up to my expectations!  I am happy and excited with the casting as well (although some people have mentioned they aren’t looking forward to seeing Kate Hudson as Darcy).

How about you –  Have you read Emily Giffin?  Looking forward to the movie?  Has any movie ever lived up to the book for you?

  1. Have not read any Emily Griffin…pleasure reading is on my to-do list 🙂

I am really excited to see the movie. I love Emily giffin and my favourite of her books are something borrowed and baby proof.
I hope they stay true to the theme of the novel, which was the complicated friendship between Darcy and Rachel. I am worried that it will be a cheesy rom-com.
I love ginnifer Goodwin as Rachel but will miss Hilary – she was a great character.
    Fingers crossed! 🙂

  3. Have read both “Something Borrowed” and “Something Blue.” I recognized myself in the Darcy character – well, my younger self and it was humbling, indeed.

Am keen to see the movie, which isn’t normally the case. I am usually disappointed when books are brought to the big screen. The BEST exception, in my humble opinion, is “Bridges of Madison County” The film surpassed the book and remains my all-time fave.

      Hi Bellymonster

Thanks for sharing. I feel that Darcy ended up redeeming herself to the reader in Something Blue. I now MUST see Bridges of Madison County 🙂

Hey Tara! I’ve seen the movie, but I didn’t realize it was a book! Thanks! I’ll look into it 🙂

I can’t wait for this movie!! I remember when I first finished reading it when it came out hoping it was going to be turned into a movie. I think they did a great job with the casting.

Do you know if they are combining something borrowed and something blue? I didn’t like how they combined different books in the Shopoholic Series because they missed some key points.

I’m currently reading In Her Shoes. I’ve never seen the movie.

    Hi Amanda!

I believe that Something Blue will be the focus of the next movie. I know that Kate Hudson and John Krasinski signed on for a two movie deal.

Great to find others who love this series 🙂
