This video has been circulating for almost a week now. Poet Neil Hilborn talks about meeting and losing his girlfriend. I found some of the comments around the web about his poem very interesting. Read more…
“The only way you can write the truth is to assume that what you set down will never be read. Not by any other person, and not even by yourself at some later date. Otherwise you begin excusing yourself. You must see the writing as emerging like a long scroll of ink from the index finger of your right hand; you must see your left hand erasing it.”
― Margaret Atwood, The Blind Assassin
My friends Tara Hollister and Sarah Atchison accompanied me to the book launch of Peggy Blair’s The Poisoned Pawn at the Orange Art Gallery in Ottawa. It was a very fun evening with a Cuba theme and not only did we get to chat with Peggy again, Tara was able to cozy up to the Mayor – Jim Watson (@JimWatsonOttawa).
Fun all around, and some interesting art to look at too!

To come – an interview with the author.

My friend Sarah Atchison first introduced me to Peggy Blair’s work when she chose The Beggar’s Opera for our book club in the fall. The women in our club loved it. We were thrilled when Peggy was available to join us one Sunday evening to discuss the book and her writing process. Imagine our excitement when she revealed that the second book in the series would be available in a few months, after which she promptly invited us to the book launch! Talk about keeping in touch with your audience. Read more…
